Working to End Food Insecurity
Martha’s Kitchen is a not-for profit, interfaith, mom-and-pop Hot Meal Program which has served tens of thousands of hungry men, women and children in the San Jose area.
On a daily basis, we see the need of hungry families, veterans, senior citizens, the forgotten, the throw-aways of society, the runaway kids and the frightened immigrant; all these in one of the wealthiest areas of the world, Silicon Valley, where the cost of a small house is beyond the means of the average person.
Our mission wouldn't be possible without the efforts and donations of volunteers such as your self. Thank you for helping us make a difference!
Notice to All Volunteers Regarding COVID-19
Martha's Kitchen will remain open, as we are considered an "essential service" that supplies food. That said, we really need the help of our volunteers at this time to keep Martha's Kitchen running.
Our meal service is being provided as "to go" service to our clients, and we have implemented the following protocols to ensure the safety of our clients, staff, and volunteers.
Thank you for your interest in assisting us in our mission to feed the seniors, homeless, and working poor.
We need both morning and afternoon volunteers on Tuesday and Wednesday, though we need morning volunteers probably even more so right now.
PLEASE READ THESE REQUIREMENTS CAREFULLY TO HAVE AN ENJOYABLE AND FRUITFUL TIME WITH US.
NOTE: Punctuality is a must. Volunteers are accepted on a “first come, first serve” basis. However, those who have received confirmations get priority. Those arriving after 3:15 p.m. even with confirmation may be turned away.
If any volunteer in good faith believes that some policy, practice or activity of Martha’s Kitchen is in violation of law, a written complaint may be filed by that volunteer with the Executive Director. It is intent of Martha’s Kitchen to adhere to all laws and regulations that apply to the organization, and the underlying purpose of this policy is to support the organization’s goal of legal compliance. The support of all volunteers is necessary to achieving compliance with various laws and regulations.
